Summer Blues 2024 – Sustainable tour concept

Summer Blues catamaran has been operating for more than a decade, providing excellent service and experience to over 85.000 guests staying in Split and its surroundings with an average rating of 4.8/5. Therefore we can truly state that we are one of the most recognizable and most successful tour operators in this region if not the whole Croatia.

As we enter a new era of sustainable tourism, it is essential to take steps toward reducing our carbon footprint and preserving the natural environment. At Summer Blues, we recognize the importance of sustainability and have taken significant steps towards minimizing the negative impact of our catamaran tours on the environment – to be a leading example in nautical tourism in the area.

Our tour is designed to provide an unforgettable experience for our guests. Our focus is on reducing the amount of waste produced during the tours. We have implemented a strict waste management plan that ensures all waste is appropriately disposed of, and the amount of waste produced is kept to a minimum.

Remove single-use plastics. Viva reusable cups!

One of the main ways we have reduced waste production is by removing single-use plastics from use entirely. Plastic is one of the most significant contributors to ocean pollution, and by eliminating it from our operations, we are taking an important step toward protecting our Adriatic Sea. Instead, we provide our guests with reusable Summer Blues cups, which they can refill at our onboard bar.

We use cardboard containers!

In our commitment to sustainability, Summer Blues has decided to replace plastic food containers with cardboard ones on our catamaran tours. This is an important step towards reducing the impact of our operations on the environment, as plastic containers are not biodegradable and can take hundreds of years to decompose.

Cardboard containers are a more sustainable option as they are biodegradable, recyclable, and can be composted. This means that they can be easily disposed of without causing harm to the environment. Additionally, cardboard containers are made from renewable resources and have a lower carbon footprint compared to plastic containers.

Eco-friendly cleaning products

We have also replaced all our cleaning products with eco-friendly alternatives that are safe for flora and fauna in the sea. Our cleaning products do not contain any harsh chemicals that can harm marine life, ensuring that our tours have minimal impact on the natural environment.

We have signed a contract with NatureSafe company that has local production of eco-friendly products with zero-waste packaging.

Cleaning products are made of very efficient natural Hocl which is completely safe for the environment and there is no alcohol contained in their products. On the other hand, their mission is to strive to create a cleaning solution without any waste disposal. The way they approach this solution is that permanent bottles are used and the only thing we refill are products in degradable bags.

E-ticket system

In addition to our waste management plan, we have also implemented an e-ticket system. This eliminates the need for paper tickets, which can easily get lost or discarded, leading to unnecessary waste. Our e-ticket system allows guests to book and receive their tickets electronically, reducing the need for printed tickets.

Work-life balance

At Summer Blues, we are committed to sustainability, not only for the environment but also for the local community. We recognize the importance of providing year-round employment opportunities for seasonal workers, which is why we offer them the possibility of year-round employment. This helps to create a stable income for our employees, promoting social sustainability in the local community.

At Summer Blues, we believe that even small changes can make a significant impact!
